What is the syllabus for CSS? CSS syllabus 2025 is categorised into two groups: one is compulsory, and the other is optional. In compulsory subjects, you do not have the option to skip any subject, while in optional subjects, you have to choose according to your understanding.

Now, most CSS candidates do not know how to choose CSS optional subjects. As CSS requires 14 years of education from CSS aspirants, it is recommended that you choose those subjects related to your prior education and your interest.

CSS written test consists of a total of 1200 marks, with 600 marks for compulsory subjects and 600 marks for optional subjects.

Optional Subjects of CSS Syllabus 2025:

CSS optional subjects depend on seven different groups comprising different subjects. Half-passing marks (600 marks) depend on optional subjects. A candidate’s selection of optional subjects must be carefully considered, as the wrong selection will cause failure in the exam. Group 1: You can only choose one subject with 200 marks.

Group 2: You can only choose one subject with 200 marks or two subjects with 100 marks.

Group 3: You can only choose one subject with 100 marks.

Group 4: You can only choose one subject with 100 marks.

Group 5: You can only choose one subject with 100 marks.

Group 7: You can only choose one subject with 100 marks.
